Singha Asian Cross Country Rally 2007
This year will mark the 12th anniversary of the first Asian cross-country event, the Singha Asian Cross Country Rally. The prime purpose of this event is International goodwill and friendship within Asia. The Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (RAAT) is the main organizer of the event, and its message is “by the Asian people, for the Asian people".
Sun Chlorella, in affiliation with the "Akindo" racing team, participated in the rally this year. The team has two members, Mr. Norihiro Yamamoto, as the driver, and Takashi Tuji, as a co-driver. The "Akindo car" has participated in the rally since 1997. They drove a repaired Toyota Land Cruiser with its powerful 4-wheel drive for this rally.
This year, the race lasted six days, from August 5th to the 10th. The total distance driven was 2,250 km and started in Bangkok traveling through Cha-Am, Kanchnaburi, Phetchabun, Pac-Chong, and ending in Pathaya.
Even though the Akindo team did not win the coveted first place prize (they came in 15th) they received a special award as they were the only team that never changed team members during the race and drove the same car for the last 10 years.
