Monde Selection Closing Ceremony

The 48th Monde Selection closing ceremony was held at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice Hotel, June 1, 2009. There were 2,200 products submitted by 737 companies from 73 countries that competed and among them, 600 entrants received awards.

The ceremony began with speeches by the Chairman, Mr. Patrick de Halleux, Mrs. Halleux and Jury President, Mr. J  Bessemans. Grand, Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were conferred immediately after the speeches. International Quality Trophies were awarded to those who won Grand Awards for three consecutive years. The Prestige Award honored those who have contended in the competition for 25 consecutive years.

After the ceremony, participants were fortunate enough to take a closer look at the displayed items. They were able to physically touch the items and were also allowed to take some of the items home with them. It is believed that the tangible feel of items by direct contact ( i.e. touching, drinking or having a close look at package design) provides a balanced point of view on whether the intended value of the product was communicated to the buyer well enough or not, which is invaluable feedback.

Japan’s quality control has been appraised highly, having a reputation of being held to stricter measures than world standards. However, entrants from Japan were quite disappointed due to the low amount of Grand awards given. Many Japanese representatives received Silver and Bronze Awards.

Sun Chlorella won a Grand Award; having passed through one of the toughest evaluation processes in the world only reaffirms our unstoppable effort to push products toward even higher levels of quality.
