Sun Chlorella Corporation's 40th Anniversary Event at Kyoto HQ featuring Rakugo

On July 4th, SCC celebrated their 40th anniversary by holding a celebration at SCC Kyoto headquarters. Rakugo, a type of traditional Japanese performing art, was the featured entertainment. This historical art form has its beginnings in the sixteenth century. By the mid seventeenth century, the use of gestures and facial expression to accent the stories had become common. It has also become customary to include a "punch line," called the ochi, at the end of the story for added effect. Rakugo has been an important part of more than 300 years of Japanese history.

Approximately 200 customers were interested in signing up for the event; however, more than 800 customers just within the prefecture of Kyoto attended. Mr. Nakayama, the president of SCC, began the festivities by giving a speech. After his address, three Rakugo storytellers performed.

The event ended without any diffuculties and all who attended had a truly wonderful day. Contents of the event were broadcasted on TV news programs that day and the following day. Various radio programs also mentioned portions of the celebration. There will be three more Rakugo events held in Osaka, Tokyo and Fukuoka.
