Feijoada, Brazilian Most Popular Cuisine
Reported by Mr. Mitsuyuki Nisimura,
President of Sun Chlorella Brazil
Churrasco is a well known food in Japanese culture and consists of skewered grilled beef, pork and chicken and it is also very popular in Brazil. However, Feijoada is the national dish of Brazil.
The origins of Feijoada go back to the Africans who were brought over to Brazil as slaves. The stew incorporates black beans, pork, and beef. As time passed, it became a popular meal among the lower class. Now Feijoada is served at restaurants on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s throughout Brazil. Typically, Feijoada is served with rice, cassava flour, bone-in pork steak, fried bananas and sautéed couve manteiga in oil.
