Hay fever health damage

Spring in Japan is a beautiful season as it marks the blooming of the cherry blossom trees. However, during this time many people complain about the amount of pollen being released from the cedar trees. What they are suffering from is hay fever, which can cause eye, nose and skin irritation, and even asthma.

The amount of pollen being released from the trees has increased dramatically in recent years. More than 40% of middle-aged people have symptoms of hay fever due to the increase in allergies, and mass media is now dispensing pollen information during weather forecasts every day. In Japan, it is forecasted that the amount of pollen from cedar trees will reach a peak in 2050.
