Exercise and Health (2)

It is very important for people to do strength training in order to help build up their muscles, especially in Japan due to the increase of our aging population. Without exercise, muscle mass reduces as the body ages and eventually the body will weaken.  Due to deteriorating muscles in legs, the elderly are more susceptible to stumble and break bones. Falling is one of the main reasons for people over 65 need nursing care.

Generally, elderly people do not want their family or others to have to care for them, so many are being put into nursing care. Approximately, 4.6 million people in Japan are currently receiving nursing care. To help decrease the need for the elderly to be in nursing care, it’s important that people take action by doing moderate exercise and introducing strength training into their regimen.
