The number of tourists who have visited Kyoto has increased during the last 11 years. More than 72,000,000 tourists visited Kyoto in this last year alone. This increase in tourism is a result of a seasonal event in Kyoto called "Hana-Touro" which occurs in March and December compelling people worldwide to visit. During these events decorative floral displays and paper lanterns adorn the city.
