Blu-ray disc recorder in great demand
| Blu-ray disc recorders are gaining popularity within the growing digital electronics field. Many consumers buy the Blu-ray disc recorder with a flat screen TV, because of the “eco point” program the government is offering. The "eco point" program will award points to consumers that buy electronics designated as energy savers. The points can be used later to purchase other "green" products. Electronics makers have introduced several devices which enable consumers to stream television program recordings to their cell phone. This way, they can watch their favorite television programs anywhere and anytime. At the famous electronics retailer, Yodobashi Camera, of the high end Blu-ray recorders with more advanced functions are the most popular even though they are more expensive. More than half of the consumers who buy a Blu-ray recorder choose models that cost between100, 000 to 200,000 yen ($1,000 - $2,000 US). A businessman who bought one said he appreciated being able to record programs on the train while he was on a business trip. The electronics makers will bring out their most advanced lineup of Blu-ray disc recorders this year, including those that can transfer the recorded program to a handheld game console or portable audio device. According to the research firm GFK Japan, the sales of Blu-ray disc recorders from January 2009 to June 2009 has tripled compared to the same period of the previous year. |
