Keyword for 2010, associated with the environment draw increasing attention
| ELECTRONIC LIBRARY INCORPORATED (EL)* released the top 10 keywords that will most likely make headlines in 2010. These keywords were selected out of approximately 2.2 million words in the company’s database. ELNET determined these keywords through its own analysis of their trends by way of appearing in newspapers and magazines. Almost half of the selected words are related to the economy and industrial fields, such as LED (Light-Emitting Diode) and EV (Electric Vehicle). Due to increasing environmental consciousness, it is predicted that words relevant to environmental products or technologies will be most popular. Smart Grid and Cloud Computing are drawing much more attention than ever, because many companies are developing next-generation technologies to create efficient uses of electricity and IT systems. Based on predictions that these will become more widespread in Japan next year, EB (Electronic Books) is expected to become more popular as well. Other keywords are expected to be the Upper House election and Child allowance. The Shanghai EXPO, Tokyo Sky Tree (the new TV tower substituted for the existing Tokyo Tower) and The World Cup keywords appear in social & other areas. * EL offers a database of news articles. |
