Sun Chlorella A Manufacturing Process

We always hope to make highly safe and high-quality Sun Chlorella A help improve the health of people around the world.
In order to make that wish realize, we implement strict production control, process control and quality control according to our own manufacturing standards and criterion.

01

Slanted Culture

After transferring the seed stock of chlorella pyrenoidosa (Sun Chlorella strain) to an agar slant medium, make it grow under the optimal temperature conditions by irradiating a ray of light (artificial lights).

02

Indoor Flask Culture

After the chlorella grown in slant culture is transferred to a flat flask containing liquid medium, further cultivate it by supplying air containing carbon dioxide and lights. As the concentration of chlorella in the culture increases, it is sequentially transferred to larger flasks, and continued to be cultured.

03

Outdoor Seed Culture

Chlorella grown in flasks is transferred to an outdoor concrete circular pool with stirrer and starts culturing in natural environment. Chlorella continues to grow while being exposed to sunlight in the pool. As the concentration of the chlorella increases, it is moved to a larger pool.

Main Culture

Chlorella is transferred to a concrete circular pool with a diameter of 36 to 46 meters and stirred constantly to receive sunlight evenly. Cultivation continues while carefully controlling the supply amount of the medium (nutrients of chlorella) according to the temperature and sunlight irradiation conditions. The water used for the medium is groundwater sourced from 3,000-meter high mountains, clean, uncontaminated, low in hardness, and stable in both quality and amount. Unlike grown in tank, the chlorella cultivated outdoors under natural environment contains richer vitamin B12.

Filtration, Dehydration, Washing and Concentration

Chlorella cultured in the production pool is harvested after reaching the prescribed concentration. Filter it to remove foreign substances mixed into the culture medium. After that, it is repeatedly dehydrated in a centrifuge and washed. Then, filtered again before it is concentrated.

Cell wall pulverization

Because of its strong cell wall, chlorella has a disadvantage that it is difficult to absorb its ingredients effectively. The cell wall pulverization method developed by us overcame this shortcoming. We use a machine called Dyno-Mill to and physically pulverize chlorella cell wall. There are rigid spheres in the cylinder. When they are stirred together with chlorella slurry, a partial pressure difference occurs in the stirred liquid and it makes chlorella cells expand rapidly to be pulverized finally.

Sterilization and Chlorophyllase deactivation

Chlorella contains an enzyme called chlorophyllase, which produces the causative substance of photosensitivity (pheophorbide). For the purpose of deactivating this enzyme and for sterilization, performs high temparature treatment for a short time by mixing steam with chlorella slurry.

Drying

Drying chlorella reduces its water activity and allows it to be stored for a long time. In general, spray dryer method is widely used for drying chlorella. When chlorella slurry is sprayed in a spray dryer supplied with hot air, it dries instantly. Though raw chlorella is susceptible to spoilage, by drying it in a short time, a powdery dry chlorella which has a fresh green color and smells like dried seaweed and green tea (Matcha) can be produced without impairing its quality. This chlorella powder, if under suitable conditions, can be preserved for several years without deterioration in quality.

Tableting

Tablets are manufactured by molding with a tableting machine. These products undergo inspections on appearance, weight, foreign object, bacteria, physical property, and ingredient analysis. Regarding important components, we have established our own standards which is stricter than official standards, and ensure stringent quality control by conducting tests at public institutions.

Packaging

Only the tablets that passed all the inspections are packaged in an aluminum pack, then “Sun Chlorella A” is completed.

We strive every day to help improve the health of people around the world with Sun Chlorella A, which is manufactured through strict production control, process control, and quality control as mentioned above.

Productization

In order to make a reliable product that can be consumed safely, Sun Chlorella A is manufactured at a certified factory that meets the GMP standards of the Japan Health and Nutrition Food Association.

GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practice

GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practice. It was established for the purpose of ensuring the quality and safety of products throughout the reception of raw materials to the shipment of the final products by the establishment of appropriate management organization, implementation (GMP software) of work management (quality control and manufacturing control) and construction of appropriate structural facilities (GMP hardware).
